Maybe it's the year your family moved somewhere new with nothing but a suitcase and a bit of hope. Maybe it's a small, ordinary Tuesday that nobody else remembers — except you, and it turns out that was the day that mattered most. Whatever your story is, it deserves more than just a memory. It deserves a page.

That's exactly why I've created Write Your History and Leave a Legacy — a 5-week online course for anyone who has ever thought, "I should really write that down one day."

Why I'm Doing This

When I wrote The Sawmillers Daughter, I learned firsthand how much courage it takes to put a family's story on the page — and how much it means once it's there. Since then, I've had so many people tell me about the stories sitting in their own families: a grandmother's letters, a father's yarns about the bush, a life that deserves to be written down before it's lost.

I wanted to build something that actually helps people do it — not just talk about it, but sit down, work through it step by step, and come out the other side with real, written pages. That's what this course is.

What the Course Covers

Over five live 90-minute sessions on Zoom, you'll go from a blank page to a genuine set of written memories. Here's how it unfolds:

Week 1 — Your Life Timeline We start at the very beginning: mapping out the moments, people, and places that matter most, so you know exactly where to begin.

Week 2 — Writing a Scene, you'll learn how to turn a memory into something a reader can actually picture — setting, senses, dialogue, and feeling.

Week 3 — Finding Your Voice Writing for family is different from writing for a wider audience. This week is about finding the voice that sounds like you.

Week 4 — Structuring Your Story, we look at how to shape everything you've written into a whole story — chronological or thematic, and how to handle the tricky gaps and sensitive memories along the way.

Week 5 — Sharing Your Legacy The final week covers editing, printing a keepsake copy for family, self-publishing if you'd like a wider readership, and how to actually get your story into the hands that matter.

Who This Is For

This course is for anyone who has a story worth telling — whether that's a parent, a grandparent, or simply someone who has lived a life worth remembering. No writing experience is needed. Just a willingness to sit down, remember, and put it into words.
