My Interview with Paul Rushworth-Brown about The Sawmillers Daughter & the impact on the Australian Sawmilling Industry.
I had so much fun being interviewed by Paul Rushworth-Brown for the Down Under Author Interviews. This was my first ever interview and to say I was nervous would be an understatement, but I am really proud of how it turned out! We discussed the impacts of the closure of the Australian Sawmilling industry in some states and how displacement is a real contentious issues faced by a lot of families. We talked about how for some generational families, Sawmilling is all they have e

Writing Tips to get you started!
Have you ever thought about writing? You could write a poem or a Novel, or you could start by writing your own story. So many of us have regrets about not asking our grandmothers & grandfathers more about their life stories, if we could have them back for one day, what would we want to know? So rather than having those regrets in the future, why don't we start now, ask your relatives to write their life stories so you can read them and all that history can be retold for gener

A sneak peek from the book!
Photo Curtesy of Sandra Rewell "A bush yarn that is told by Reg McClement his first time out log cutting" I hear the bush bird sing, its whistle gives out a piecing ring. The air is still, but the tree still sways, I can hear the bush a mile away. I close my eyes, and what is it I hear? the rustles of the leaves and a cricket near. Theres many a sound in the bush, I say, it surrounds you, in a magical way. I hear the axe against the tree, soon enough

The History within the Story!
The concept for The Sawmillers Daughter came to me in a dream, I vividly dreamt about Maggie and the characters in my story, but the setting of the Eastern Dorrigo Plateau is actually a real place. The Eastern Dorrigo Plateau is situated 64kms west of Coffs Harbour in New South Wales and today consists of towns such as Dorrigo, Bostobrick, Megan, Ulong, and Lowanna, However, back in the day the Plateau had many more towns, the thriving sawmill towns and villages of Cascade, B

Coming Soon!
Hi There, Thank you for viewing my website, I am so excited about the upcoming release of my Debut Novel "The Sawmillers Daughter" I can't wait for you all to read it. I wrote this book about a year ago after I had a dream, I woke up and I said to my husband "I am going to write a book" He thought I was stark raving mad, Ha! ha! But I wrote it and I didn't do anything with it until I was completing the Advanced Creative writing course and my Tutor the wonderful Eleanore Hartl
